My long-time friend from my days at the University of Pennsylvania just got himself knighted on New Year’s Eve of 2021. Being the Chief Medical Officer of Wales certainly put Frank Atherton in the spotlight. But until I sat down with him, I never realized his extraordinary career in public health that spanned the globe and included impoverished and war-torn villages as well as confronting an insidious pandemic that cast him as the Dr. Fauci of Wales.
